The weekend was off to a jolly good start with the Live Shibari Performance Art presented during the Opening Reception on Friday night and during the Special Event on Saturday night. These live performances included demonstrations of "shibari floorwork" as well as "shibari suspensions".
There were still some live shibari performance art for several more days when I left but had to be off the next day to attend the two day Playboy Bunny Reunion festivities. The Playboy Bunnies are not the “playmates” who appear in Playboy magazines. Bunnies are the women, dressed in bunny-outfits, who worked in the Playboy Clubs throughout the world. The women who worked at the clubs were women with solid work ethics, manners and good conversational skills.
The last club closed on 1986, but the women had many great stories from working in that era. Many of the former Bunnies are now writers, lawyers and professionals in their own right.
The first evening of the Reunion was a complimentary cocktail party at the Ritz Carlton provided by the very generous owner Mr. Juneau. There was a silent auction to help pay for the expenses of the reunion such as authentic Playboy items from that era and also some of the bunnies who had written books on their Bunny Days.
The next night, they chartered The Natchez with a sit down dinner and more socializing. There was also Hugh Hefner's heartfelt video message to the Bunnies. I also got to explore the engine room which was so clean that you could practically eat off the floor. And the best part of all, I ended up with several important historical Playboy souveneirs and momentoes.
